Inconsistent quality, January 21, 2011

I purchased the complete brush set with pink brush roll from Sigma’s website on 12-11-2010. I wanted to use the brushes for a while before writing a review so I could evaluate their performance. While some of the brushes are good, others are not. I find inconsistent quality to be a problem with Sigma. Of the brush set the F30 large powder brush sheds badly and is getting worse with continued washing and use. The F50 duo fibre brush is not dense enough or have enough white fibers to be used as a stippling brush, although I do like it for blush application. The E40 tapered blending brush is very loose and floppy – useless for applying color to the crease or for blending. It also blew out and lost shape after washing. The other brushes are quite good. I like and use all of the other eyebrushes daily and have had no issues with shedding or shape loss. The F60 foundation brush and the F40 large angle contour brush are also very good. Sigma customer service was good. My E30 was missing from my order when it arrived. I contacted customer service and they sent me one quickly. I purchased the complete brush set because I had bought the 3 piece synthetic brush set earlier and was very impressed by it. I really love the F80, F82, and F84. I have been using them daily and washing them often and they have not shed one hair. They have held their shape and perform great. I was disappointed that the great quality of these brushes was not representative of the entire line. I am happy overall with my purchase and I do recommend it with resevations about quality control issues.

It’s hard to find a makeup brush set in the stores. Several counter girls told me they only stock sets of brushes during the Christmas season, and I was looking for a birthday present in August… This set comes in a pretty, black net bag tied with a bow. The brushes were a combination of natural and synthetic. They apply powders and eyeshadows well and the blender brush works nicely. The gift recipient has commented that she gets much better results from these Sigma brushes than she did from cheaper brushes bought at local stores. This is not the most expensive or prettiest set one could buy, but it was excellent value for money for a complete set of basic brushes in packaging nice enough to give as a gift. I would buy again, and will probably get myself one as a travel set.

I have very oily skin even though I’m over 60, and this product removes all of my makeup and oil from my skin. I use them at night, follow up with a warm washcloth over my face and use only warm water and a cloth in the morning. I have been using them about two weeks and my pores look smaller and my face feels cleaner than ever. I have tried all of the expensive lines of facial cleansers, and this one suits me better than any I’ve ever tried. I’m very pleased with the convenience of the product as well.

Warning: Sigma reviews are probably a little bias since they offer a free gift for customers who leave reviews. These brushes are nice, but for the money they cost, I was expecting a lot more. They are certainly not any better quality than the brushes at our local beauty supply store. I was absolutely disgusted to discover that Sigma included a card with my purchase that says, “A Free Gift For You! I have been using this product for about 4 years now, ever since my alopecia went full out to universalis and I lost all my head hair. While it doesn’t work as well alone (with skin shield) if there is hair present (mother tried it and it lasted all of 4 hours), for my purposes on bare skin (with shield first preceded by an alcohol swipe to get rid of the oil) it works like a charm. will hold for 2 days as needed but easy to come off with 90% alcohol when needed. I have a standing order every 6 months!

This tape is very difficult to work with. When you put the tape either on your hairline or on the lace wig, you cannot peel the top layer of the tape; it is almost impossible. If you do succeed, you then have the sticky part of the tape rolling up and disintegrating. It does not have a good hold. I will try another tape next time. Better yet, I will be using a glue for my lace wigs.

I cannot use any regular conditioners because the oil from them makes me break out. After using countless acne products and visiting multiple dermatologists, I realized that the problem was my conditioners so I stopped using them. Palmers Cocoa Butter is one of the great lotions, but they’ve redesigned the pump and, well, it just does not work. There’s no other way to say it. We are still ordering the lotion, but we have to recycle the old pumps to get the lotion to come out when we use it. Soon, our old pumps will fail and we will have to stop using Palmers. Sad.
